Blog Issues, Birthday Travel, and Lake Street Dive

It's been a little while since my last post! A few things have happened, so let's dive in.

Blog Issues

I ended-up having some issues with the website-builder I use, Publii, which have since been addressed. The short version is the latest version of Publii started generating some errors whenever I tried to publish, which I now know is (seemingly) related to storing my files on Dropbox. So, I pause Dropbox when I upload and the problem goes away. A simple fix, if a bit inconvenient.

I also made some mistakes with my upload filepath, so even when everything was working correctly I wasn't seeing any of the changes I was making.

If you're curious, I still love using Publii, and recommend others use it if it suits their needs.

The Grand Canyon, and Antelope Canyon

So! Diya and I did a bunch of travelling! Our first stop was to the Grand Canyon and the nearby Antelope Canyon in May. We flew in to Phoenix and stayed just a bit outside of the Grand Canyon Entrance.

Antelope Canyon was a bit of a drive, including crossing into a different time zone for a bit (which caused some concern about making our appointment time), but definitely worth the journey.

Some photos from Antelope Canyon:

The area was beautiful, and it is so much fun having Diya as my travel buddy. I can't imagine seeing the world with anyone else!

Birthday Kayaking, and Lake Street Dive @ The Greek Theater

In mid-July we went Kayaking for Diya's birthday. We had been planning it for a while, and it turned out to be a beautiful day to be out on the water.

A week later we also had a birthday celebration for Diya at Validation Ale, near our house, which was so much fun.

A couple weeks later went and saw Lake Street Dive play at the Greek Theater. They are one of my favorite bands, and I wanted to surprise Diya, so I booked an AirBnB and told her we were going on an overnight trip to do an undisclosed thing (relayed in a less creepy manner, of course).

We ended up driving down on Saturday (it ended up being a weekend of driving to LA and back) and found the very cute and delicious Pine & Crane in Silverlake. Their food was, in a word, incredible. Plus, there were lots of options that Diya and I could both enjoy. We feasted like royalty before getting ready for the show.

We found a great restaurant, but the only photo I have to show for it is this amazing beer they had on the menu.

We got to the show that evening, and while I don't haveĀ many pictures of the show, so most of these photos are of the venue before and after the show. Like the kayaking trip, it turned out to be the perfect weather for an outdoor concert!
